Spectator 2 Spearo
Time for proper spearfishing! It’s more important than ever to know what you are doing when “hunting” underwater. You wouldn’t simply pick up a shotgun, walk into the Serengeti and start shooting everything that moves would you? Of course not! So I have put together this very comprehensive class to teach and inform you everything you need to know about beginning to spearfish. Beyond the basics I want you to have a good understanding of why so many people around the world love to gather fish with a spear and do it with conservation and safety in mind.
This class is primarily for freedivers who wish to learn how to spearfish. There will be a heavy emphasis on safety/buddy awareness, fish selectivity, proper gear and techniques. I will also cover other important topics such as history, free diver physiology/psychology, ethical hunting to rules and recipes. Hawaii has some of the best reef diving in the world so take advantage of this special course and go from “spectator to spearo”!
Requirements
- Must know how to swim and have snorkeling experience
- Comfortable freediving to depths of 10 to 30 feet
- Can hold breath up to 30 seconds or longer
- None or limited spearfishing knowledge
- Good health/fitness and clear medical form

- Mask/Snorkel
- Snorkeling/Scuba or Freediving Fins
- Wetsuit
- Gloves/Booties
- Weights/Weight Belt
- Knife
- Sunscreen

Format and Schedule
This is a two day course offered Monday thru Sunday. You must be prescheduled and cleared before participating. To secure slot we ask for a non-refundable deposit equal to the amount of the course.
